Jump to RecipeI love toast! Toast is such a blank canvas for endless possibilities! It’s great for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. Toast is quick to put together, so it makes for a convenient meal. This tomato toast is savory from the vegan cream cheese and refreshing from the fresh tomatoes.
VEGAN CREAM CHEESE
Vegan cream cheese has come a loooong way. There are several brands that are incredibly delicious and are an even trade out for the traditional, dairy cream cheese. You can also make vegan cream cheese from scratch with cashews or tofu. I often just go for the store bought stuff because they did such a great job and it’s super convenient. For this recipe I used chive vegan cream cheese for even more flavor. Not into vegan cream cheese? Swap it out for hummus or regular cream cheese.
SEASON YOUR TOAST
Seasoning your bread is a must for any sandwich or toast. Lightly drizzle lemon (or vinegar), salt, and pepper on the bread. It makes a world of difference for the flavor.
MAKE IT YOUR OWN
I kept this toast simple by topping it with everything bagel seasoning. But basil, balsamic glaze, or pickled onions would all be great additions to this toast.
Tomato Toast
Ingredients
- 2 Pieces of bread I used sourdough
- 2 tbsp vegan chive cream cheese
- 1 Tomato
- 1/2 Lemon
- salt to taste
- cayenne pepper to taste
- everything bagel seasoning to taste
Instructions
- Toast your bread
- Season you bread with lemon juice, salt, and cayenne pepper
- Spread cream cheese on toast
- Slice tomatoes
- Place tomatoes on top of cream cheese
- Top with everything bagel seasoning
- Serve!
