What dough to use for Pillsbury Garlic Knots
Pillsbury has a plethora of options for dough. When it comes to making garlic knots, I find a few options yield wonderful results.
For this particular recipe I went with Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust. This option was nice and pillowy, with a slightly crisp outer layer. They baked beautifully to golden brown and were soft and fluffy enough to absorb the flavorful garlic herb butter without becoming soggy.
Pillsbury Original Breadsticks and Pillsbury Crescent Dough Sheets also make great options. And they both happen to be vegan as well!
Pillsbury dough is super simple to use. Simply open can, roll out the dough onto a baking sheet, and bake for 13-15 minutes. For Pillsbury garlic knots we take it a couple of steps further, but those steps are super simple as well! Read on for detailed instructions.
HOW TO MAKE PILLSBURY GARLIC KNOTS
As mentioned above, making Garlic Knots from Pillsbury dough is incredibly easy. Simply open can and layout dough on a surface lined with parchment paper. Parchment paper keeps the dough from getting stuck to the surface of your working space. You can also use a lightly floured surface, but I find parchment paper cleaner and easier to use.
Then cut the dough in half lengthwise, and into strips across. I like to go with 9 rows making 18 garlic knots total. I find that this makes a perfect sized garlic knot.
Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough if possible. A pizza cutter will cut through the dough easier than a knife.
Once dough has been cut into 18 strips, tie each garlic knot. I love this part! It’s super easy, yet very satisfying. And it’s a perfect little project for kids to help with.
Once garlic knots are formed, top with that delicious garlic and herb butter. This step turns your basic Pillsbury dough into a delicious, buttery garlic knots!
Then bake until golden brown. That’s it folks! Hot, fresh, buttery, mouth watering, garlic knots! Serve and enjoy.
FLAVORFUL GARLIC HERB BUTTER
Who can resist fresh baked dough topped with delicious garlic herb butter? I know I certainly can’t.
This flavorful garlic butter is incredibly simple to make. Simply chop up fresh garlic into small, minced pieces. Combine with sliced fresh basil, fresh parsley, melted butter, olive oil, salt and pepper. That’s it! Perfectly flavorful garlic herb butter to slather on top of each knot.
VEGAN PILLSBURY GARLIC KNOTS
Many variations of Pillsbury dough are already vegan. So making vegan Pillsbury garlic knots is super simple! Just use vegan butter. My go-to for vegan butter is Miyoko’s salted, European style plant based butter, but any vegan butter will do the trick.
ADDITIONAL TOPPINGS FOR PILLSBURY GARLIC KNOTS
The garlic herb butter for this recipe is super flavorful and works perfectly all on its own. But feel free to go the extra mile and mix it up with some additional toppings!
You can top these babies off with Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, mozzarella cheese or parmesan for an easy parmesan knot. Sky is the limit!
WHAT TO SERVE PILLSBURY GARLIC KNOTS WITH
