Jump to RecipeWHAT ARE DAIKON RADISHES
Daikon Radishes are long, crisp, white radishes that are often used in Asian cuisine. When eaten raw, they have a strong, bitter flavor. But when Daikon Radishes are roasted, they loose most of their bitterness and become juicy, savory, and absolutely delicious! I personally LOVE daikon radishes raw, but if they are a bit too strong for you and not your cup of tea, try this easy roasted daikon radish recipe…I bet you it will change your mind!
Not only are roasted daikon radishes absolutely delicious, they are also great for you! Daikon radishes are a low calorie food that is full of nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper, fiber, folate, and vitamin C. That’s right! EAT YOUR RADISHES!
WHERE TO BUY DAIKON RADISHES
You can buy Daikon Radishes at most grocery stores in the produce section. You can alway find Daikon radishes at your local Asian grocery store. And sometimes, if you’re lucky, at your local farmers market.
ABOUT THE CUCUMBERS
Persian Cucumbers, also known as mini seedless cucumbers are hands down always my cucumber of choice these days. Although I passed over them for years in the produce isle, once I tried them I never went back. Why? Because of their texture! Due to their smaller size, Persian cucumbers tend to have a much crisper bite than other cucumbers. Even when they are tossed in a dressing, these babies tend to keep their crunch for days.
Yes, you can substitute any cucumber for this recipe…but like I said above, Persian cucumbers are my fav.
Spicy Chili Crisp for Spicy Roasted Daikon Radish and Cucumber Salad
If you like spicy food you NEED to get this spicy chili crisp oil! I am obsessed with it! It has a really nice kick and a delicious, unique flavor. For this recipe I included 2 tsp of this chili crisp oil. Feel free to add more if you really enjoy the heat. If you’re more sensitive, add less.
Feel free to substitute this chili crisp for sriracha or any other hot sauce of your choice.
You can find chili crisp oil in the Asian section of your grocery store or at your local Asian market.
