How to make white bean buffalo dip super flavorful
As mentioned above, white beans make the perfect creamy, dairy-free base for your vegan buffalo blue cheese dip…but what about the flavor. To make this white bean buffalo dip incredibly flavorful you will add a few simple, yet affective ingredients.
Buffalo Sauce for white bean buffalo dip
The buffalo sauce is obviously first on the list for this white bean buffalo dip recipe. You can use your favorite buffalo sauce. Franks is definitely the most popular, but feel free to use whatever brand you like!
If you are vegan or avoiding dairy, make sure you do check the label of your buffalo sauces, some of them do contain butter or dairy.
Also choose the appropriate heat level you desire. Some buffalo sauces are spicier than others.
Vegan Blue Cheese Crumbles for white bean buffalo dip
So blue cheese (or bleu cheese, which is the French spelling of the word), has a super unique flavor to say the least. Blue cheese can be described as salty, sharp, and pungent, with a bit of an earthy essence. It’s a cheese that may not be for everyone, but typically if you love it, you LOVE IT!
VEGAN ALTERNATIVE FOR BLUE CHEESE CRUMBLES
Blue cheese, with it’s unique flavor, was a personal favorite of mine. But when I originally gave up dairy in 2007, I had to wait years for a vegan alternative to hit the shelves. I am please to announce that it was worth the wait and Follow Your Heart has absolutely nailed it!Â
FOLLOW YOUR HEART VEGAN BLEU CHEESE CRUMBLES
Follow Your Heart Vegan Bleu Cheese Crumbles are absolutely mind blowing! This vegan version of blue cheese tastes incredibly like the original dairy blue cheese. Seriously…it’s crazy! If you are a blue cheese fan, do not walk, run to your nearest grocery store and grab some!
The fact that you can just pull a fantastic version of vegan blue cheese crumbles off the shelf, helps to make this recipe super simple and quick to prepare.
Substitute for vegan blue cheese crumbles
Not into the flavor of blue cheese? No problem! You can leave the cheese out entirely and this white bean buffalo dip with still be fantastic.
You can also replace the vegan blue cheese crumbles with a different vegan cheese. Vegan feta would be my next choice because it still has a nice sharp flavor. You can also replace vegan blue cheese crumbles with nutritional yeast to help build a cheese-like flavor.
Other seasoning for white bean buffalo dip
Now that we talked about our two main flavors, buffalo sauce and vegan blue cheese crumbles, let’s talk about the rest! There are a couple of key ingredients that really bring this white bean buffalo dip to the next level.
Fresh Garlic for white bean buffalo dip
For this white bean buffalo dip, you will be using fresh garlic, as well as garlic powder and onion powder to help build flavor.
To incorporate the fresh garlic you will first chop it up and sauté it in water. This allows the garlic to cook slightly so its not super strong and overpowering. Feel free to skip the sautéing step if you want a more powerful garlic flavor, of course!
**I choose to sauté the garlic in water rather than oil to cut calories. Feel free to use oil instead if you prefer.
Not-Chick’n Bouillon Cube for white bean buffalo dip
To bring the flavor of this white bean buffalo vegan blue cheese dip to the next level, I included half of a Not-Chick’n bouillon cube. This seasoning is SUPER flavorful and adds a little bit of that chick’n flavor to the dip. Edward and Sons makes a perfect one! Feel free to skip this step if you’d like…but it does really add flavor.
Where to buy Not-Chick’n Bouillon Cubes
You can purchase Edward and Sons Not-chick’n bouillon cubes in most grocery stores. You will find this seasoning in the baking isle, broth isle, or the healthy food section of the grocery store. You can also purchase them online at Amazon or other sites.
